How long has North Shore Roofing and Siding Corp. been serving Long Island?

We are a three-generation, family-owned and operated business. For over 30 years, our family (including Scott and Bruce) has provided honest, high-quality roofing and siding services across Long Island and the Five Boroughs.

What areas of New York do you service?

We proudly serve all of Nassau and Suffolk Counties, as well as Queens and Brooklyn. Whether you have a historic home in Garden City or a commercial property in Long Island City, we have the local expertise to handle the project.

Do you provide free estimates for homeowners in Queens and Long Island?

Yes! We offer free, no-obligation consultations. We’ll visit your property, assess your roof or siding needs, and provide a detailed written estimate.

Are you licensed and insured to work in New York City and Long Island?

Absolutely. We are fully licensed and insured for both residential and commercial work in NYC and throughout Long Island. This protects you and your property during every phase of the project.

Do you specialize in historic roof types like Slate and Wood Shake?

Yes. We are one of the few contractors on Long Island with specialized expertise in natural slate and cedar wood shake roofs. These materials require a high level of craftsmanship that has been passed down through our three generations.

How do I know if I need a roof repair or a full replacement?

Common signs of trouble on Long Island homes include missing shingles after a Nor'easter, water stains on your ceiling, or granules in your gutters. We always aim to repair whenever possible to save you money, but we will recommend a replacement if the structural integrity is compromised.

How long does a typical roof replacement take in Long Island?

Most residential asphalt shingle projects are completed in 1–2 days. Specialty roofs like slate or tile may take longer due to the meticulous nature of the installation.

What is the benefit of a "Cool Roof" in Queens or Nassau County?

NYC and Long Island summers can be brutal. A "cool roof" uses reflective materials to bounce sunlight away from your home, significantly reducing your cooling costs and improving energy efficiency.

Can you install custom copper gutters and flashing?

Yes. We specialize in custom copper work, which is highly durable against the salt air of coastal Long Island and adds a timeless aesthetic to high-end homes.

Do you offer warranties on your roofing services?

Yes, we stand behind our work. We provide both manufacturer warranties on materials (like GAF or CertainTeed) and our own workmanship guarantee to ensure your peace of mind.

What types of siding are best for Long Island’s coastal climate?

We recommend high-quality vinyl or fiber cement (James Hardie) siding. These materials are resistant to salt air, high winds, and moisture, making them ideal for South Shore and North Shore homes.

Can new siding really improve my home’s energy efficiency?

Definitely. When we install new siding, we can also add a layer of modern insulation (house wrap), which helps keep your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer—a must for New York’s extreme temperature swings.

My siding has "green staining." Do I need to replace it?

On the North Shore, algae and moss are common due to shade and moisture. Often, a professional cleaning can fix this, but if the siding is warping or cracking, it may be time for a replacement.

What commercial roofing systems do you install?

We specialize in flat roof systems common in Queens and Long Island commercial districts, including TPO, EPDM (Rubber), and Modified Bitumen.

How do you handle flat roof ponding water issues?

Ponding water is a major issue for NYC commercial buildings. We ensure proper tapering and drainage systems are in place to prevent water from sitting on your roof and causing leaks.

Do you provide emergency commercial roof repairs after a storm?

Yes. We understand that a leak can halt your business operations. We offer prompt emergency services to patch leaks and prevent further interior damage.

Can you perform roof maintenance for multi-family buildings or HOAs?

Yes, we work with property managers and HOAs throughout Long Island and Queens to provide scheduled maintenance, ensuring the longevity of the entire community's roofing systems.

How does Long Island’s "Salt Air" affect my roof and gutters?

Salt air can accelerate the corrosion of standard metal flashings and gutters. We recommend aluminum, stainless steel, or copper components for homes near the water to ensure longevity.

Do I need a permit for a roof replacement in my Long Island township?

Most municipalities in Nassau and Suffolk County require a permit for roofing work. As your contractor, we can guide you through the permitting process to ensure everything is code-compliant.

Can you install a roof during the winter in New York?

Yes, we can install roofs year-round as long as conditions are dry and safe. We use specific cold-weather installation techniques to ensure shingles seal properly even in lower temperatures.

How do you protect my landscaping during a project?

We take great pride in our "clean site" policy. We use tarps and protective barriers to ensure your gardens, bushes, and driveway are protected from falling debris and nails.

What should I do if I suspect storm damage from a recent Nor'easter?

Call us for a professional inspection. Wind-lifted shingles aren't always visible from the ground, but they can lead to major leaks. We can provide the documentation you might need for an insurance claim.

Do you offer financing for large roofing or siding projects?

We understand a new roof is a significant investment. Please contact our office to discuss current financing options and payment plans available for New York homeowners.

Why should I choose a three-generation family business over a national chain?

When you call North Shore Roofing and Siding Corp., you're talking to the owners. Our reputation in the Long Island community is our most valuable asset, so you get personal accountability, expert craftsmanship, and a partner who will be here for another three generations.
